On Saturday October 12, Ola Ray, co-star from Michael Jackson’s Thriller video stopped by the shop! Fans easily recall and recognize her as Michael’s beautiful and terrified date at the movies and on the street in the iconic video THRILLER! Ola spent over 3 hours hanging out to sign autographs of her current book and photos, taking photos with all the fans and sharing some of her Michael memories. She has such magnetic presence and is so lovely! It was a such a joy to spend time with her.
On Sunday, Cheryl Song paid a visit to our exhibition. Cheryl became Soul Train’s first non-black dancer in 1976, and she was featured as a Soul Train “regular” until she left the show in 1990. While on Soul Train, Cheryl got to meet Michael and his brothers several times. Michael was clearly impressed with her dance moves and they remained in touch until she was ultimately cast in the “Beat It” video. While in the shop this weekend Cheryl shared a fun and juicy memory with us from the Beat It video set!
Later that same afternoon, we had the pleasure of hosting Vincent Paterson.Vincent is known for choreographing and directing some of entertainment’s biggest stars including Michael Jackson and Madonna. He was one of the two fighter dancers in the “Beat It” music video and was an assistant choreographer and a zombie dancer in “Thriller”. He co-directed and co-choreographed Jackson’s Bad World Tour as well as co-choreographing the music videos “Smooth Criminal”, “The Way You Make Me Feel”, “Dirty Diana”, “Speed Demon”, “Black or White” and live performances for the Super Bowl XXVII Halftime show, the Grammys, and the MTV 10th Anniversary. He also co-directed and co-choreographed the music video for Jackson’s hit “Blood on the Dance Floor”. He spent over two hours with us signing copies of his current book as well as photos, and sharing many heartwarming stories about Michael Jackson. Vincent too is such a warm, luminous person who is such a joy to be around. We were truly blessed to have him at our event!
A special Thank you to Kevin and his wife Monet, owners of As The Record Turns for hosting our event. We deeply appreciated your hospitality and hope that we can do this again!! Check out some more fun photos here from the weekend.
